Santa Presents Christmas

Dec. 4-5
• On Dec. 4 and 5 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 6 at 2 PM the “Bowen Family Memorial and Benefit Events” once again will present “Santa Presents Christmas” at “The Fair nTheater” in Somerville Tennessee in honor of “Santa Mike White” and “Frosty Beth Webb.” A donation of the net proceeds will be made to “The Fayette County Education Foundation” to promote academic excellence in all schools in Fayette County by providing educational opportunities over and above that which is provided by the regular school budget. Make your plans now to attend this unique and entertaining family Christmas Music show. Lots of Oldies and newer songs, comedy, heart touching and clean family fun. Dec. 8
• The Oakland Regional Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting and open house from 4-6 p.m. on Dec. 8 at the new location at 7580 Highway 64.

Dec. 11
• Holy Spirit Lutheran Church will host The Spot from 7:30-9:30 p.m. The Spot is every second Friday of the month throughout the year at 14615 Highway 194. For more information, call 335-8578 or

Dec. 12
• The 2015 Oakland Christmas parade is Dec. 12 at 3 p.m. There is no rain date.
Entry deadline is Dec. 5. Please complete and return entry form. There is no entry fee.
Floats will be judged and trophies awarded to the top 3 entries.
Parade route will begin at Oakland Elementary School, continue south on Highway 194 to Highway 64, head west on Highway 64 to Chickasaw Ridge, and end behind Wal-Mart.
All entries must have completed entry form and approval prior to parade.

Dec. 21
• Christmas Break for Fayette County Schools will be Dec. 21 through Jan. 4. Teachers will return on Jan. 4 and students will return on Jan. 5.

Holiday Volunteer Opportunities
• Donate food and toys for struggling families to make spirits bright. With your help, Fayette Cares will distribute toys to more than 250 children and food for nearly 500 families.
Contribute gifts as a family or rally your school, church, business, or club to donate non-perishable food and toys for children 0-12.
Get in the holiday spirit by volunteering. You, your family and friends can help inspect, sort, count, and package toys and food in preparation for the big holiday distribution.
Or join Santa’s Little Helpers to set up the toy shop, then help parents select gifts for their little ones. Volunteers of all ages are welcome at these wonderful holiday efforts.
