On Nov. 5, Fayette-Ware High School and Fayette Academy dual enrollment students visited the University of Tennessee at Martin campus.
While there, they toured many of the different buildings located within the quad, including the Andy Holt Humanities Building, Gooch Hall, the new Fine Arts Building, Boling University Center, and several others.  After touring, lunch vouchers were provided for the students to eat in the university food court, and then students attended a short informational session about the school.
Fayette-Ware student, Jeremiah Blankenship said, “The UTM campus is beautiful in the fall. It was neat being able to see a college campus and especially one as pretty as UTM.”
Elinor Westbrook, Fayette Academy junior, went on to say, “College is so neat. Being able to see what the future has in store for me when it comes to going to college is so exciting.”
On the way back, Fayette County students could not stop talking about where they were wanting to go, how fun college is going to be and what their major was going to be.
The University of Tennessee at Martin Somerville center will be hosting an Open House on Nov. 19, from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Career Center on the Somerville Town Square.
There will be an opportunity for potential students to view a classroom in session, meet professors, enjoy refreshments and be part of a scholarship drawing.
