Oakland’s Katlyn Cheyenne Bryant recently took home top honors when she was crowned the 2015 Miss Tennessee National Teenager at the LaQuinta Inn in Smyrna, Tenn.
Bryant, 17, is the founder of the Philanthropy Club at Fayette-Ware Comprehensive High School and is an officer in the Skills USA club. She is also on the honor roll. In addition, Bryant volunteers hundreds of hours each year for organizations such as the Fayette Cares, Fayette County Animal Rescue, Soldiers Overseas and the Memphis Boys and Girls Club. Her aspirations are to graduate school and serve in criminal justice.
“I want to show other girls my age they can do anything they want to do and be anything they want to be,” said Bryant. “This program is a great opportunity to make new friends from around the state and to sharpen skills for life, like public speaking and service.”
Bailey Guy, 12, of Hendersonville and Sadie Prater, 8, of Woodbury were crowned 2015 Miss Tennessee Junior National Teenager and Preteen National Teenager, respectively, in that same competition.
Pageant winners from all over the state came to compete in the Tennessee National Teenager Scholarship Pageant to showcase their talents and achievements. Bryant received multiple college scholarships, and entry and travel to the National competition in Nashville, among her other awards and prizes.
Guy and Prater will join Bryant in competing at the National pageant for travel, scholarships and cash prizes totally over $60,000. The Tennesseeans will join young scholars from around the country in modeling, interview, talent and public speaking competitions at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
America’s National Teenager Scholarship Organization awards over $40K every year in scholarships and prizes at each state competition. For more information, visit tnnationalteen.com.
