Lightening strikes Oakland home

Oakland firefighters responded to a residential fire on Aug. 7 in the Northwood Estates subdivision after a house was struck by lightening. No one was injured in the fire as the homeowners were on vacation. Photo by Jim Larkin

Football FEVER

Rossville Christian School hosted a football scrimmage with Fayette-Ware High School on Friday. The Wildcats’ season starts Aug. 22 at Lausanne Collegiate. Their first home game is on Aug. 29 against Jackson Central Merry. On Sept. 5, Fayette-Ware will host Jackson South Side.

Board votes to appropriate $45,700 for Oakland Chamber of Commerce
