Fayette County home sales mimicking 2013

STAFF REPORTS
Halfway through 2014, reports indicate that Fayette County home sales are identical to the previous year.
According to the Memphis Area Association of Realtors, 276 houses have sold in Fayette County through June. The same number of homes sold halfway through 2013.
With 59 sales recorded last month, June saw a sales increase of 11 percent compared to the previous year.
The year-to-date median sales price in Fayette is up nearly five percent at $177,000.
Thirty four new houses have sold this year, a 29-percent decrease from 2013.
Fayette County sales have been up the last two months but were down February, March and April.
Shelby County home sales were up five percent last month but remain down five percent on the year.
“The market’s heating up, right along with the weather,” said MAAR President Greg Glosson. “We’re ahead year-over-year in the major categories and monthly sales volume made a nice jump.”
