Lady Wildcats host McNairy

The Fayette-Ware High School ladies’ soccer team played their third home game this season on Sept. 17. While the opposing team, McNairy Central, outplayed them 0-7, the Lady Wildcats fought hard until the end. This is the second season for the team, and Coach John Duke is continuing to mold and grow the program. The roster this year includes about five players additional to last years’ team. Improvements are also being made to the FWCHS front field.  New goals, sponsored by the Bank of Fayette County, will be installed soon. With the addition of a team at West Junior High in Oakland this year, the Fayette County Schools seems to be in the birthing stages of a great soccer program. Home games are $5 and open to the public. Spectators are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket. The remaining home games will be Sept. 26 vs. Covington and Oct. 3 vs. Lexington. The complete schedule can be found at http://www.fcsk12.net/. The FWCHS Soccer Booster Club will be sponsoring a booth at the Oakland in October festival on Oct. 5. Home baked goods from soccer parents will be sold, as well as many different FWCSH Wildcat spirit items. For more information, contact: Shea Morrisson at 299-6700 or sheamorrisson@me.com. Meetings are every second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at Ring Can Company in Oakland and are open to anyone in the community who wants to help support the program. At left is Hannah Morrow.
